With the Pandemic and the restrictions and guidelines, we all had to make some changes and adjustments; some things take longer if at all possible.
With the social distancing and reduced number of points, our tryouts have just completed on September 25.
Our team is now set with a starting roster of 18 cadets including 6 freshmen and 5 sophomores
The first match of the year for Sporter was in the SRQ County Air Rifle League Match-Riverview. The young team included two second year (Noah Broneill and Cody Ogden) and three first year team members in Jr Liam Ries, and the two freshmen of Gabby Ayers and Juliana Courie. The team earned 1st Place with a 920 over 2nd Place Venice HS Marine Corps 906. SMA was led by Noah Broneill and his league leading 258 with Liam Ries' (226), Gabby Ayers (224), Juliana Courie (212) and Cody Ogden (209).
The first online match of the year for our team in the Orion Online Virtual Matches Match One, our Precision Team earned 3rd Place with Sporter posting a 12th Place team score.
Precision was led by Andersen Suter (295.4), Dan Delzer (294.4), Sophia Olazabal (291.3), Thomas Reisinger (287.8) and Kendall Goebel (286.1). Sporter was led by Noah Broneill, Liam Ries and Gabby Ayers.
In the Precision 60 Shot Standing Orion Match, Precision earned 3rd Place behind our rival JROTC Program from Colorado Spring, CO from Fountain-Ft Carson. We were led by Kendall Goebel's nice 592.4. Sophia Olazabal had a respectable 587.4 and Andersen Suter's 569.2.
The following results and standings are not complete as all teams have not finished scoring targets. On October 7-8 our team was in competition mode again as the Sporter Team had two competitions with the SRQ County League Match - Sarasota HS and along with Precision, the Orion Online Virtual Matches Match Two.
Our Sporter team posted another nice 919 and our team was led by Noah Broneill followed closely by Gabby Ayers' personal best 233. Liam Ries had another consistent 225 with Nathan Molineux 212 and Juliana Courie 206. In the Orion Match Two, Broneill was followed closely with another personal record of 246 by Gabby Ayers. Molineaux and Courie also posted personal records.
In Precision's Orion Match 2, SMA was led by Senior Sophia Olazabal, followed by Junior Kendall Goebel, both with a personal record in the 3x10 decimal.
